Connie Stevens

December 7, 2003
Motion picture star and recording artist Connie Stevens is owner of Forever Springs cosmetics line empire with over 300 skin care, hair care, makeup, and perfume products for both men and women. Recently, Stevens designed and opened the Garden Sanctuary Day Spa located in Los Angeles just on the border of Beverly Hills in California. Connie Stevens has picked up the reputation of the "Good Looks Guru," not only from customers of her cosmetics and Los Angeles spa but of her own good looks! Curious about this reputation, Looks Magazine's Lance Christopher asked Ms. Stevens about her movie career, cosmetics line, and day spa, all of which have contributed to her moniker of "Good Looks Guru."
The Film and Music Career
Lance: Ms. Stevens, thank you for talking with me today. There have been a lot of mentions on the Internet about your Hollywood career and background. Is there a Connie Stevens autobiography or biography in print?
Connie: As of right now, no autobiography is forthcoming. But there is a short biography on my website at foreverspring.com. Please check it out.
Lance: You've appeared in quite a number of films and TV programs. Which one was your most memorable?
Connie: Probably the "Sex Symbol," a made-for-TV movie where I played the lead role in a fictional portrayal of Marilyn Monroe's life.
How Does She Do It?
Lance: Connie, you always look great when I see you on television, at celebrity galas, shopping around, and at your Spa. What are your beauty secrets?
Connie: I just do my best to stay healthy. I try to keep a positive attitude and have fun! I use my own line of product for skin care, "Forever Spring Cosmetics."
Lance: Do you have a favorite make-up artist or stylist?
Connie: I do my own make-up. I occasionally get a haircut at Privé, but I usually cut it myself.
Beauty Suggestions from the Good Looks Guru
Lance: What's your secret to a perfect eyebrow?
Connie: A tiny bit of plucking-follow the natural curve of your eyebrow. Don't over-pluck. The eye pencil you use should not be far off from your eyebrow's natural color.
Lance: How do women avoid having that look where they have one color on their face and another color on their neck and upper chest?
Connie: By using a soft bronzer as an overall accent. We have the perfect one, called "Golden Spring."
Lance: Is there an alternative to invasive cosmetic surgery (Botox) for lines on the forehead or for crow's feet?
Connie: I am scared to death of Botox. Collagen seems to be a better way to go.
Lance: Large, luscious lips seem to be all the rage in Hollywood and fashion magazines. Besides making an appointment with a cosmetic surgeon for collagen, what other alternatives do women have to make their lips full and lovely?
Connie: Kiss a lot!
The Cosmetics
Lance: You now have a large line of successful cosmetics and beauty products, called Forever Spring. What was the first cosmetic from your company sold to the public? Is it still on the market?
Connie: The Beauty System is still the mainstay of my product line after 15 years.
Lance: Who develops your new cosmetics and perfumes? For example, your new Chamomile Cleanser form your Forever Springs line.
Connie: I personally get involved in and help formulate the Forever Springs products. I personally formulated the Chamomile Cleanser myself.
Lance: What makes your line of cosmetic and skin care different from other product lines?
Connie: It is very fresh. We use the finest ingredients with very few fillers and not many preservatives.
Lance: What is your favorite makeup item in your Forever Springs line?
Connie: I have so many that I can't do without. In make-up, I love the lip gloss "Incognito" and the dual foundation of Patricia and Madison.
Lance: How do your customers and clients discover the right makeup colors to stay natural?
Connie: They can ask one of our customer service representatives over the phone at (800) 523-4334, or by coming to my Garden Sanctuary Spa in Los Angeles. They can also go online to foreverspring.com.
Forever Changing Trends
Lance: What do you think will be the future makeup trends?
Connie: That is a difficult question. Sometimes, you can look at what's happening in Europe (France, Italy, and London) or in the entertainment industry and Hollywood to tell the future here in California. Definitely natural looks and earth tones are always in!
Lance: Synthetic eyelashes can be very alluring on women; do you think they will ever come into vogue again?
Connie: They never went out. They just get more natural-looking. I hardly know an actress who doesn't use them on screen.
Lance: What new shades and colors are ahead for eye shadows in the Winter season?
Connie: Mauve and burgundy, it looks like to me.
The Spa
Lance: At your Los Angeles day spa, the Garden Sanctuary, you offer a variety of relaxing day spa treatments. What is your day spa's most popular service?
Connie: The Mini Day Treatment, which includes a deep-cleansing facial, a Swedish massage, an aromatherapy manicure, and a spa pedicure.
Lance: Are you ever at the spa during working hours to meet clients?
Connie: Yes, but not as often as I'd like.
Lance: Once again, I'd like to thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to answer these questions. I wish you continued success in your Forever Spring product line, the Garden Sanctuary Day spa, performing and singing around the country, and as the revered Good Looks Guru!
Connie: Thank you!
