Identifying the Best Hair Extensions Method

December 5, 2004

Before
Alot of people cut off all their hair, or it gets damaged, either on purpose from a photo shoot as a model, or by a bad hair cut or perm. Hair extensions are the answer to get your long and beautiful hair back, and more. It can give you the hair and body you never had, like a picture out of a Victoria's Secret catalog.
After

It's a well-known fact that the opposite sex finds longer, fuller hair much more attractive. Why fight it? Be the envy of all your girlfriends and the desire of your lover with long, flowing hair.

In a nutshell, there are two methods for hair extensions. The two major categories are individual extensions, and wefts of hair extensions.

Individual hair extensions involve strand by strand bonded onto your own hair. The individuals are fused with either wax, glue, braids, or a small bead or clip. There are advantages and disadvantages to all of them. The most natural is the wax, and it stays in the best of all four. However, breakage can occur when removing the extensions. Use extreme caution during removal.

Glue is messy and ironically does not hold as well. It can cause tangling easily. It looks unattractive when you pull up your hair. However, it can be easy and fast to use and requires no heat machines.

The braids I only recommend for African American or similar hair. On finer hair, it will not hold. As for clips and beads, they look very unnatural. They can fall out through normal wear and tear. The hair cannot be used over.

Before
You can't use any hair with any method—except for Mega Method's French Fusion. This is a wax method with which you can use any hair from the least quality to the best Italian or Cuticle hair. You can match any hair color or hair texture with the Mega Method for individual hair extensions.

After
Using another similar wax method, the popular Great Lengths Method, you are limited as to the array of hair quality, color, and texture that you can use. You can only use their brand of hair, and it is not the best quality. They don't have a lot of blondes, and only certain textures are available by color. It is pre-waxed hair, already separated, so it can be easier to apply.

Partly for that reason, Great Lengths hair is extremely expensive. A full head of Great Lengths low-quality hair will cost $1,500, not including the labor to put it in. For high-quality hair at His and Her, not including labor, you pay only about $500, and you can use it with the Mega Method. Great Lengths can be applied in around seven hours by a hairdresser without an assistant, and the Mega Method can be applied in the same time by a hairdresser with an assistant.

If you want volume and length with the color, texture, and quality of hair that you want, the wax Mega Method is for you. For questions or for an appointment with Lance, email him or call him at (310) 859-3998.
